As a U.S. Army veteran, photography has become more than a creative outlet for John - it’s a way to find peace, purpose, and perspective after years of structure and service. Capturing powerful moments through the lens allows him to slow down, observe the world with intention, and tell visual stories that evoke emotion and memory. It's a form of therapy, reflection, and connection that helps John share how he sees the world now, shaped by both military experiences and a deep appreciation for calm and beauty.
What sets John apart from other photographers is not just my technical skill or eye for composition, but the unique mindset he brings to every shot—discipline, patience, and a sense of mission. Particularly drawn to the Great Lakes photography, John finds inspiration in the quiet strength of lighthouses, the working legacy of ore boats, and the steady presence of tugboats. These subjects resonate with his background: they’re sturdy, dependable, and full of stories - just like the people who served with during his time in the Army.
John is a stage four cancer survivor complicated years later by osteoradionecrosis of the jaw.
